INTRODUCTION

After a struggle debut season, the Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) have released 11 players which is the maximum for any franchise. This year, the RPS will look to make good amends at auction by picking up few impact players whom they missed last year. To be honest, the Pune team was highly unlucky as they just couldn’t settle into a winning combination as their prime players were injured one after another. Picking young opener Mayank Agarwal this year from Delhi during the trading window is indeed a great move by RPS.

HOME GROUND

Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune is the home ground of RPS. However, due to the drought last year in Maharashtra their home games were shifted to Ranchi and Vizag. This year though RPS will hope all their home matches are played in Pune.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE IPL AUCTION 2017

RPS made a good move by acquiring the services of uncapped Indian opening batsman Mayank Agarwal during the trading window. Hence, this means a good back-up opener in case of an injury. With the likes of Ashoke Dinda and Ishwar Pandey in the squad, domestic fast bowling also looks concealed.

However, what is lacking with this team is a premium International fast bowler. RPS will also need all-rounders as well.

WHAT UWEWORLD THINKS RISING PUNE SUPERGIANTS WILL DO AT THE IPL AUCTION 2017

With just about 17.5 crores, this will be a tricky auction for RPS as they need to fill in a lot of slots. Some smart buys will help them for sure. We feel RPS will make a few bold bids for players who the management feels are perfect for the team.

We also feel they will look for the services of either Ben Stokes or Corey Anderson. In fact, this will help them strengthen their lower middle order and help them get a finisher to company Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Depending on the availability, Steve Smith, Adam Zampa and Faf Du Plessis are almost certain to play all games for RPS. Hence, a premium foreign fast bowler should be a great addition to this team.

Moreover, one or two Indian middle order batsman are desperately needed for the team.

THE TARGET FOR RPS IN THE IPL AUCTION 2017

  • Domestic middle order Batsman
  • An experienced International fast Bowler
  • International All-rounder
  • Domestic spinner as a backup for Ravichandran Ashwin
  • International spinner as a backup for Adam Zampa
